Outfitting Services

For 25 years, Lost Trail Ranch has owned and operated a Forest Service permitted outfitting business, focusing on summer day rides, fishing excursions, drop camps and full-service pack trips for the Ranch guests, as well as tourists in the area, and those that come here specifically for the outfitting services.

The main focus of the Forest Service outfitting permit based from the Ranch has been to provide a safe, enjoyable horseback adventure, while enjoying and respecting the surrounding magnificent mountains.  Horse rides, lasting from one hour to several day pack trips, head out right from the ranch.  Safety for the rider is stressed, and environmental appreciation is highly encouraged.  The horses are remarkably well cared for and healthy, and a new breeding program has been in place for the past three years.

Currently, the owners and operators have concentrated on upgrading the guest cabins, and have preferred to focus on day rides and drop camps, enabling them to return home at the end of each day to spend well deserved time with the guests.  Safety has been a great focus, and lessons and horse training have become a greater focus of the operations here at the Ranch.  The love of horses is apparent and appreciated throughout the Ranch and its facilities.

With the many special, off-the-beaten-trail fishing locations within a short horse ride from the Ranch, there is an untapped potential for the fly fishing enthusiast to expand the permitted guide fishing business - something that has not been pursued, but has been requested time and time again over the years.  The owners would be glad to help in any way with ideas and suggestions based upon many years of listening to their guests requests.

Please see  the web site www.lost-trail.com for more information about the current outfitting operations existing at the Ranch.  For hunting-related outfitting/guide services, and yet another income potential or consideration for the Ranch, an additional Forest Service permit focusing on the prime hunting in the area may be available for sale, or could be considered for continued operations based from the Ranch, from a highly respected and recommended hunting guide who has operated in these mountains for over 20 years.  For more information about this aspect of the outfitting services at Lost Trail Ranch and these surrounding areas, please e-mail Sammy Frazier directly at cotrips@aol.com

The sale of the Guest Ranch will include the Outfitting Permit, contingent upon Forest Service approval of the transfer.  In addition, full horse tack, complete outfitting and guide gear to accommodate the current business needs, and possibly even Ranch horses, may be negotiated in the sale of the Ranch.
