The Guest Ranch at Lost Trail Ranch
The historic Guest Ranch was
originally built in
the 1930's and 1940's, primarily as a fishing and hunting "camp."
Within the past
10 years, the current owners have both rebuilt and redecorated most of the original structures to
include modern amenities and comforts, beautiful craftsmanship and charm -
all to the delight of the many returning clientele.
The new structures, built from logs and matched with charming touches inside
and out, were designed to make the most of our high mountain
Colorado sunshine and absolutely breathtaking views, and provide the most comfortable
and welcoming "home away from home" for the guests.
The Guest Ranch is currently open year round,
however the primary income is of course during the main season, late May
through mid-October. During the main summer season, guests come to
enjoy a full week in the mountains, returning year after year to "their"
cabin. The current owners do all they can to enable the guests to feel at
home, comfortable and welcome at the Ranch and in the mountains.
Today, the area attracts
fishermen and hunters, due to our abundance of wildlife and incredible
pristine location. However, during main summer, "families" are the
primary guests; and during the slower, quieter season, couples have
discovered the Ranch as a relaxing, romantic and remote get-away.
Unlike a "dude ranch", Lost Trail
Ranch has operated as guest cabin rentals, where guests come to enjoy their
own interests at their own leisure. It's like a home-away-from-home
for the many guests who return year after year to "their" special cabin.
It's a place where families feel safe and comfortable in a serene mountain
setting; where folks come to make the most of the many sports and activities
available... or do nothing at all and love it! (Not too many places left you
can still feel right kicking back on your porch with a good book, a drop
dead view, and no reason to go anywhere.)
The seven guest cabins are spaced with
plenty of room between them, providing guests with lots of privacy, and a
feeling of open space in a breathtaking, relaxed environment. This
also allows a new owner plenty of room to expand current operations if
desired.
Seven Individual and Unique Cabins
 | Cabin #1 - "Rio Vista Cabin" A lovely and
bright two bedroom cabin, completely renovated in 1999 and redecorated
in 2004; with full kitchen, full bath, large open living/dining area,
tile floors, attractive wood trim, lots of light and huge southern windows,
a comfortable deck off the south side, and views of the Rio Grande
Reservoir and the surrounding mountains that go on and on. |
 | Cabin #2 - "Aspen Grove Cabin" A smaller, more rustic
one bedroom cabin; the original cabin built on the guest ranch with
additions in later years, and redecorated in 2003; small but fully
functional and tidy kitchen, bath and living area. The perfect
porch for enjoying morning coffee, and good views of Pole Mountain from
the front entrance porch. |
 | Cabin #3 - "The Headquarters" Just completing the
finishing touches on a complete remodel, this is the finest work we
have done to date, with extra touches and country craftsmanship pride
throughout this two story cabin. Two bedrooms, two full
bathrooms, big bright open kitchen and living and dining room,
separate office room, hallway library, wrap around porch with
magnificent views in all directions. Fabulous and charming
touches every where you look, and that's just the inside of the cabin! |
 | Cabin #4 - "Heart of the Ranch Cabin" A
small one room cabin with cozy front porch, built in the 30's with
full round logs harvested from these mountains, the cabin has not yet
been expanded, but faces towards the Rio Grande reservoir and has
great potential if a larger space is needed. |
 | Cabin #5 - "Cliff Dweller Cabin" The
largest of our rental cabins, renovated first in 1983, and again in 2003, this
two bedroom cabin has a nice big living/dining room with full kitchen,
and full bath, tile floors throughout most of the cabin. This
cabin is tucked into the trees and off the main drive of the
ranch, providing exceptional privacy. This is also one of the
winterized cabins, and tends to attract a good crew each winter! |
 | Cabin #6 - "Little Dude Cabin" A sweet
little one room cabin, one of the original structures, slightly
renovated with big sunny southern windows but kept quite rustic, as
the only indoor plumbing is a cold water sink. New roof (as with
most structures on the ranch) was installed in 1998. |
 | Cabin #7 - "Spruce Hollow Cabin"
The finest craftsmanship is in this two bedroom cabin, with Aspen
paneling on walls and ceiling, and several special touches, like the
Aspen stain glass window and stone counter of the full bath.
Full kitchen opens into the comfortable living/dining area, all with
lovely tile floor. Charming and private, tucked into the
trees but still close to the gated entrance. |
